7-10 and 14-17 October 2025

Okay, we admit it, we're addicted to autumn! 🍁

Or rather, fall - if you're in North America.

Which is actually appropriate, because following the incredible success of the last two autumn workshops in New Zealand, in October 2025 we're chasing those fabulous fall colours north to the east coast of Canada! 🇨🇦

We're already buzzing with excitement to immerse ourselves in those magical autumnal scenes, this time in the iconic fall paradise of Cape Breton, in the east coast province of Nova Scotia.

We're running TWO workshops back-to-back, and that means twice the fun!

Check out all the highlights from our last autumn workshop in April 2024 to give you a flavour of the incredible, immersive experience you can expect to find during our workshops in a breathtaking land of saffron, copper, and fiery scarlets.

Unleashed Workshop 2023

Are you ready for one of the most exciting experiences of your life?

  • Do you find yourself stuck a rut of routine photographs, playing out the same tired script every time you get your camera out?
  • Do you sometimes have technical issues with your photographs, with missed focus, poor exposure, and uninspiring compositions?
  • Are you sure you're missing something, but you're not sure what that "something" is?
  • Would you love to connect with more like-minded people, to find yourself amongst people you can forge instant friendships with, based on your joint passion for dog photography?
  • Would you love to have an expert perched on your shoulder (figuratively!) giving you practical advice in real time as you shoot?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then you're ready to join us in Nova Scotia in 2025 to unleash your true potential - you'd be barking mad to miss out!

What our previous Unleashed Workshop attendees are saying...

Kate Westfall

Unleashed Workshop 2024, Arrowtown NZ

Wow! The workshop was a total gamechanger, in terms of how I look at locations and take canine (& equine) portraits.

Prior to this workshop, I would place my subject close to a structure, because I thought the structure was cool, but then the dog would get "lost" in the resulting image. Because of this workshop, I now know how to make cool structures "doggie-sized", and make the dog really stand out, while also still having the cool feature in the image, but no longer dominating it! To me that was HUGE!!!

The other AWESOME part of this workshop is being able to work with ALL of the dog models. Sign me up for the next Unleashed Workshop!!!

Rebecca Williams

Unleashed Workshop 2024, Arrowtown NZ

The Arrowtown Workshop with Craig Turner- Bullock and Charlotte Reeves is one of the best photography learning experiences I've had.

The location was perfect, Arrowtown in the autumn, and being based at Millbrook Resort, set us up for 3 days of inspiration. The days were well planned with mornings spent studying and editing, then afternoons for shooting. Craig and Charlotte kept the feeling relaxed and it was a great learning environment, where everyone felt they could ask any question. The afternoon photography sessions were equally well planned and the dogs and their handlers were so much fun and very obliging.

Lots of friendships have been made with people who all understand each other's passion for dogs!!!

Thank you so much for a truly amazing experience and it was the best way to improve my dog photography skills - total immersion !!

I feel so very fortunate to have attended this workshop in Arrowtown. Craig and Charlotte encourage you to achieve, regardless of your level of knowledge and reminding you that you are there to improve yourself.

Their willingness to share their vast knowledge and bring their level of teaching down to each individual need's was truly appreciated. This workshop has made me think differently about so many aspects of what makes a photo work.

Charlotte, Craig and the fantastic group of people on the workshop, made this a truly valuable experience, one I will never forget!

Complete the experience with a post-workshop group image review on Zoom, around a month afterwards.

Who is this experience for?

First and foremost, a passion for dog photography is the number one requirement!

We have both seasoned professionals and keen amateurs attending our workshops (keep reading below to find out how we do this).

What makes this workshop different from other pet photography workshops?

Rather than presenting hours of keynotes that may or may not be relevant to your level of experience, the workshop format is designed to focus on YOU.

Through our unique interactive keynote we first get a fix on exactly where you are in your pet photography journey. We then utilise plenty of one-on-one time and immersive activities to ensure everyone goes away with plenty of new knowledge and techniques!

The student-focused approach we take means that everyone is able to get what they need from their time with us, whatever their level.

Applications

Applications will open on Tuesday 15 October, 2024, and will close on Thursday 31 October, 2024.

We'll let you know if your application is successful on or before Thursday 7 November, 2024.

When you apply, you'll be asked to indicate which of the two workshop sessions you would prefer to attend, or just select both if you have no preference.

You'll also be asked to complete some questions about your current photography and editing skills, and what gear you own. You will have the opportunity to submit five images showing your current standard of work.

Once your application has been approved, you'll have 14 days to pay the $900 deposit to secure your spot, with the final payment due on July 1, 2025.

Gear Requirements

You will need a digital camera - be that DSLR or mirrorless - with a couple of interchangeable lenses ranging from wide angle to telephoto.

You will also need to bring a laptop computer with the latest versions of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop installed.

We highly recommend you bring a portable external hard drive for your RAW files, as most modern laptop computers do not have enough storage for the amount of shooting we'll be doing over the four days.

Experience Requirements

Unleashed Workshop caters to all levels, however at a minimum, you will need a good working understanding of how to use your camera. You'll need to know how to manually set correct exposure in different conditions. You will also need to know how to work your camera's controls and menu system to change exposure and focus point and mode settings.

A few months before the workshop, we'll give you access to, and expect you to complete, several of our Unleashed Education learning resources, which will provide an excellent starting point for your workshop experience.

Fees & Payment

Please note all prices are in USD.

When you complete the application form, you'll need to pay a $100 application fee.

This fee will be fully refunded if your application is unsuccessful. If your application is approved but you decide not to attend, your application fee will not be refunded, so please only apply if you are serious about joining us!

If you are offered a place, your $100 application fee will be applied to the total fee. A deposit of $900 will be due 14 days after acceptance. The remaining amount will be due three months before the workshop, on July 1, 2025.

To view the full cancellation and refund policy, please read the FAQ section below.
