Who is this experience for?

First and foremost, a passion for dog photography is the number one requirement!

We have both seasoned professionals and keen amateurs attending our workshops (keep reading below to find out how we do this).

What makes this workshop different from other pet photography workshops?

Rather than presenting hours of keynotes that may or may not be relevant to your level of experience, the workshop format is designed to focus on YOU.

Using our unique checklist system we first get a fix on exactly where you are in your pet photography journey. We then utilise plenty of one-on-one time and interactive activities to ensure everyone goes away with plenty of new knowledge and techniques!

Our student-focused approach we take means that everyone is able to get what they need from their time with us, whatever their level.

We're not surprised, because, if the previous years are anything to go on, this workshop is going to be totally EPIC!

To recap, there will be two sessions to choose from - or come along to both! Each session runs for three (very) full days, including classroom sessions, editing, one-to-one time, location scouting, and, of course the three shoots themselves.

The first workshop runs from 17-19 April 2024, and the second from 22-24 April 2024 SOLD OUT, which coincides with the famous Arrowtown Autumn Festival, which runs from 24-28 April, so why not stay for a few more days to enjoy this fun event which celebrates the historical town with parades, shows, competitions, and much more!

Each workshop is limited to just eight attendees each and with two instructors, there's a great instructor to student ratio which means plenty of opportunity for one-on-one time in the classroom and on shoots.

Our main focus is understanding your unique needs and goals, so we can tailor our guidance to fill in any gaps and elevate your dog photography skills to new heights. Our home base in Arrowtown, where all our classroom sessions will take place, is in a beautiful, intimate conference room, which is perfect for a collaborative learning experience. All our shoots take place just a short drive from here, and you can expect some stunning autumn colours that will knock your socks off!

To offer our participants maximum flexibility and freedom to choose, the Unleashed Workshops allow you to book accommodation that perfectly aligns with your budget and preferences.

There is a wide array of accommodation options in the local area, catering to all budgets and tastes. Whether you're seeking the cozy charm of budget backpackers or the indulgent luxury of high-end accommodations, there's something for everyone in Arrowtown.

To ensure everyone arrives at the right time and place for the daily shoots we will arrange transportation to and from those locations, as well as a delightful assortment of scrumptious lunch and snacks throughout the day to keep you energised.

You'll need your own transport to reach the conference venue each day, so why not team up with fellow participants to arrange car sharing? By joining forces, you'll not only forge new friendships but also make your daily journey even more enjoyable.

Applications

Applications are open NOW and will remain open until all workshop places are filled. We can't guarantee how long that will be, so if you are interested in attending, we suggest you get your application in sooner rather than later!

When you apply, you'll be asked to indicate which of the two workshop sessions you would prefer to attend, or just select both if you have no preference.

You'll also be asked to complete some questions about your current photography and editing skills, and what gear you own. You will have the opportunity to submit five images showing your current standard of work.

Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis. We'll let you know if your application is successful within seven days, but usually sooner. Once your application has been approved, you'll have 14 days to pay the deposit to secure your spot, with the final payment due on Monday, January 15, 2024.

Requirements

You will need a digital camera - be that DSLR or mirrorless - with a couple of interchangeable lenses ranging from wide angle to telephoto.

You'll also need an understanding of manually setting correct exposure in different conditions, and you will know how to work your camera's menu system to change exposure and focus settings.

You will also need to bring a laptop computer with the latest versions of Lightroom Classic and Photoshop installed.

Payment and Fees

The total workshop fee is $2,900 AUD.  Click here to convert that to USD.

When you complete the application form, you'll need to pay a $100 application fee.

This fee will be fully refunded if your application is unsuccessful. If your application is approved but you decide not to attend, your application fee will be not be refunded, so please only apply if you are serious about joining us!

If you are offered a place, your $100 application fee will be applied to the total fee. A deposit of $800 will be due two weeks after acceptance. The remaining amount of $2,000 will be due on Monday, 15 January, 2024.
