Embark Get Down Top 10
Jun 08, 2023What if we told you there was one tiny little thing that you could do right now that will dramatically change your images forever? This thing that you can change is quick. It's easy. It doesn't require you to spend a single dollar and it will have an immediate impact on how your images look.
One of the most effective techniques that you can use when photographing dogs is to get down to their level. Dogs are smaller than us, and we see them from above every day. To make a really impactful portrait, getting down to their point of view is so much more engaging and will immerse you and the people who see your images into that dog's world.
The second challenge of Embark is called Get Down and we want to see our challengers getting low to the ground for super impactful and immersive portraits.
The submissions were of such a high standard for this challenge again and narrowing them down to just 10 was a challenge in itself!
However, here, in no particular order, are our top 10 Get Down challenge images.
Huge congratulations to the photographers.

Annette Hagemeijer | Furry Friend Photography
Beautiful tonality with such a soft palette of colour. The camera is as close to the water as it could be without being submerged! The droplet is excellent.
Audrey Ricks | Sunsets Unleashed - Pet Photography by Audrey Ricks
A lovely low angle makes this pup really stand out against the stormy sky.
Brittani White
Super low to the sand, well composed, lovely light, and a very striking soft colour palette.
Emily Pickett | Embark Photography
Wonderfully balanced, full of character, and a super low angle.
Ginger Wick | Ginger Wick Photography
Beautiful tones, a lovely engaging pose, and a low angle are perfect for the Get Down challenge!
Julie Cork | J Cork Photography
A light, fresh, and joyful feeling action shot taken from about as low to the ground as you could get!
Kris Brown
Shot from a very low angle, well timed to capture the typical hunched pose of a collie and a lovely triadic colour scheme.
Shandess Griffin | Shand and Your Dogs Photography
Fantastic pose and expression, the thin slice of focus shows the camera couldn't be any lower and the light and location really add to the image too.
Teran Buckner | Phido Photography
Lovely detail and colour, the wide angle gives a distortion that suits the expression.
Tracy Bolton | Tracy Bolton Photography
Such a quirky image dripping with purrsonality!
