Double Trouble Top 10 August 2024

What’s better than one dog? Two, of course! For the tenth challenge of Emerge, we're looking for perfect portraits of two dogs.

Dogs are social creatures and many dog owners have more than one, so it is beneficial to have the skills needed to capture a portrait of two dogs in the same image, which is what we help our challengers learn in the instructional video for the Double Trouble challenge.

Here are our top 10 images from the submissions, We told you two dogs are better then one!!! Well done to the photographers.

Amy Hodson | Wander Pet Photography

What a fantastic location, the composition is excellent and uses triangles nicely with the pose on the rock to really emphasise the subjects. The portrait orientation give a great sense of scale and grandeur to the image.

Brittani White

What a lovely cosy moment! These two look so relaxed and the high key style gives the image a lovely light and airy feeling.

Dawn Orr

Beautiful light and colour harmony, great framing and two beautifully captured dog front and centre make for a lovely portrait.

Desiree Nickerson | Born 2 Run Photography

This is a great concept, a conversation between friends, definitely planning some shenanigans! The focus so clearly on the dogs and the the background being so soft give the image a really graphic qulity too.

Gabriela Ciobanu | LightStories

Beautiful light that gives a wonderful warmth to the image. The moment captured is really humourous with the westie asking for their buddy to play.

Ginger Wick | Ginger Wick Photography

What happy pups! The posing here is fantastic, lovely soft light and we definitely see Double the Trouble with these two!

Gloria Anderson | GoDogPhoto

There is a fantastic duality to everything here, black and white, boy and girl, happy and serious, textured and smooth. It all comes together is a visually striking composition the is perfect for this challenge.

Joan Wood | SouthPawPix

This puppy, adorable! and together with the larger dog form a beautiful triangle that really draws and holds your attention. The landscape supports them and adds some lovely depth to this portrait.

Juliette Bercovici | Juliette Bercovici

What a great outside the box take on the challenge brief, the posing has your eye travelling around in circles and the expression of both dogs really make this shot extremely engaging.

Lisa Olson | Pets R Family

This is so fun and so creative! The careful planning behind it bring everything together really well. The is a nice diagonal from the bog at the bottom left, up through its portrait to the artist on the chair.
