Embark City Slicker Top 10
Feb 15, 2022The City Slicker Challenge is all about showcasing pets in our urban environments. City skylines, brick walls, alleyways, industrial areas, as long as there are man-made elements, it counts!
As always, the standard of submissions for this challenge was excellent and we had a tough time narrowing it down to our top shots. So here, in no particular order, are our top 10 images.
Well done to the photographers who created these images.

This shot is composed so well. Great leading lines from the bench, the dogs head framed within the building behind it, the use of negative space and the icicle on the cake is the icicle on the left of the bench!

There's such a great atmosphere and sense of the location in this shot. All the while the dog is the hero of the image, just what City Slicker is all about!
Nancy Paynter
There's so much to love about this shot, the dog captured perfectly in it's stride, the soft backlight, the leading lines and depth in the image all work wonderfully for a fantastic City Slicker image.
Megan O'Hehir
This image has some beautiful tonality using complementary colours on the colour wheel. lovely polished edit and a great expression.
Lindsay Baca | Sit Stay Pet Photography
This is a great nighttime city skyline shot that really meets the challenge brief. Dog up front and centre, with a great expression, the urban location as a supporting role in the image.
Jenny Stokes | Smooches and Pooches Photography
Great composition, perfect placement of the dog, the dark trees are balanced nicely with the dark area on the right and keeps the eye focussed on the dog in the image.
Jane Kelly | Flying Furtography
Such a clean and simple image that meets the City Slicker brief perfectly. The puppy has a fantastic engaged expression and pose, and there's a lovely sense of the urban location.
Cindy Van Osch | Paws and Memories Dog Photography
A fantastic urban location. Beautiful framing and composition and the perfect dog to suit this location.
Angela Rose | Angie Rose Photography
The leading lines in this image are gorgeous and there's a really lovely mood created by the warm backlight. The perfect location and time of day for this style of shot.
Alison Yeo | Alikat Dog Photography
This image feels completely harmonious, the colour palette, the breed of dog in this location work really well together. And this is a great example of getting a great sense of the location without it being in sharp focus or distracting from the main subject.
