Embark City Slicker Top 10
Aug 22, 2022For many of us, pet ownership is a big part of our modern urbanized life. It's become commonplace to see pets out and about in cities and suburbs. Incorporating interesting architecture can add a sense of time and place to our images resulting in more meaningful and widely appreciated art that your clients will love to share.
For the City Slicker challenge we asked our Embark challengers to head out into these type of locations and create their images.
We had another incredible set of submissions and narrowing them down to a top 10 was tough. But here we are at the top 10 City Slickers. Shown here in no particular order. Congratulations to all the photographers for creating these fantastic images.

Absolutely fantastic low angle and the wide angle lens combined with the walls on either side really give this image an emotive quality.
Chantal Levesque | Chantal Levesque Photo
Great use of motion to give the image a busy feeling of urban life.
Jana Davis | J's Photography
Great time of day, the light behind and in front of the dog are well balanced. This has a great city vibe perfect for the challenge.
Jane Dunning | Best in Show Photography
This is a very cleverly composed image that could have easily become too much about the location. But the image successfully makes the dog the hero and has the urban feel we were looking for in this challenge brief.
Magda Szklarska | Your Best Furiend Photography
A lovely simple image that still manages to feel urban and fit the brief. Great expression and there are some lovely harmonious tones through this too.
Nadia Hall | Barking Dog Images
Lovely relaxed pose and a wonderful monochromatic style image. We enjoyed the simplicity of this a lot.
Sandra Mccarthy | Sandra Mccarthy Photography
We love the simplicity and design of this shot. A slightly different interpretation of the City Slicker brief but meets the challenge brilliantly.
Tracey Walker | Tracey Walker Art
Wow, this has a fantastic mood and that is really enhanced by the editing style too. A fantastic night time `city Slicker image perfect for the challenge brief.
Valerie Howes | Piña & Teddy of Fogo Island
The fantastic use of angles and architecture with the dog perfectly placed in the frame made this a brilliant City Slicker submission.
Zuzanna Rudas | Dog on Camera
This is a fantastically designed, graphic image. The shapes and patterns are excellent and the monochromatic tones really add to the feel of this image.
